History:

"A man enjoys life. But not perfect. Sometimes feel
pain, frustration and suffering. For a while, is good.
However, the pain increases with time, and a number of years. The
Suffering becomes a significant intrusion into your life. Exclaims:
"Something has to change!"

"It's not the wise man said that while he agreed
life for a while, more and over was more in his mind
He is not happy with the way things are, and it's really
now sure that something must change. "Could you help me
change? "He asks.

"The wise man said:" Thanks for coming to me. You have no right
thing by coming here. And now I'll give my opinion: Change
nothing.

THE END

When I first read this part I think to myself, a "Well, it's wise man seems simple enough. Maybe IÂ'll enter the profession myself. All IÂ'll have to do is say to those who seek my wisdom: a "no difference" and rejoiced in my place, the company is ensured. That might be able to make more money!

But, as Professor Technology Alexander I had to admit that the opinion of the Wise mana was quite deep. In my area often work with people who have come to believe that the solution to the problems with their physical functioning is trying to do something – to change all that just something.

Take the position, for example. Some people believe, or say that your posture is poor. Sometimes theyÂ've warned they face potentially serious health risks – perhaps due to restricted breathing that often is associated with poor posture. Or, for older students, the theyÂ'll more likely to lose balance and fall with potentially serious consequences. Maybe theyÂ've realize that poor posture not only look good, that their personal and professional lives are adversely affected.

They want to improve your posture and, more often, they rush to show how to go about doing just that. Someone who is a slouch, for example, will show a "position of force "to lift the head and chest, probably made as much as the children when a parent or a teacher told him to" stop sprawl, right foot.

This procedure was effective for the parent or teacher off your back – at least for a minute or until they return to their old habits. But has absolutely done nothing to improve your posture. All that happened is to be reorganized (as amended), the strain harmful to their bodies in another provision is also dysfunctional.

Professor John Dewey, philosopher and educational reformer, was a good deal of experience with the Alexander Technique. That's what I had to say on the subject of posture:

A "Well, of course, something that happens when a man acts upon his idea of being straight. For a time, remains differently, but only one kind of evil. Then take the unusual sensation accompanies his unusual position as proof that it is now. But there many ways of standing badly, and just change the way common in a bad way of compensation for an agreement extreme. "

One final note: The man wise does not say a "Give up. Their problems are not resolved. It might also resigned to take forever. Dona't waste time to look at improving their situation. "No, he simply said a" change nothing. "

The advice is very very Simple, but not always easy to follow.

In my teaching, IÂ'll often ask another student merely stated, as he or she can, what happens to your head, torso, arms and legs and does so without making changes. Only the opinion – nothing more. IÂ've almost never met a student who was really able to follow these instructions at first – just look at your car, without an exchange rate in that instant standing or sitting. These changes often involve relatively large movements student's head or shoulders, for example.

However, as a simple "notice only" what precisely is necessary in a first for learn to make a useful change in position so that, in the words of Dewei, which Dona't with another way to sit or evil on the rise.

In the area of the position – and indeed in all areas of our lives – we must be aware of our habitual patterns of behavior to reason about the best way to make changes actually improve our situation.

As another wise man once said: A "you must know youÂ've if you want to know the best place to go next. "
